Attualmente il Progetto Stickers distribuisce in tutta Italia (ed in Svizzera) gli stickers di Ubuntu, facendo da tramite a Sistem76, la quale produce e distribuisce gli stickers alle varie nazioni.

Visto che siamo nel periodo estivo e la scorta di stickers è quasi terminata, il progetto viene sospeso, aspettando che arrivino gli altri stickers da Sistem76.

Le richieste verranno prese in considerazione quando il progetto verrà riavviato ovviamente!

Prima di tutto và creata la cartella per il montaggio dell’Iso con questo comando:
sudo mkdir /media/ISO

Salvate questi file per montare e smontare l’iso nella cartella .gnome2/nautilus-scripts:

• mountISO
• umountISO

Renderli eseguibili digitando questi comandi:
cd .gnome2/nautilus-scripts
chmod 755 mountISO umountISO


Infine digitare :
killall nautilus

Desktop features

Xorg 7.4 brings improved support for automatic configuration of input
hardware, such as keyboards and mice.

3G support: Network Manager 0.7 comes with a number of greatly anticipated
features, including management of 3G connections (GSM/CDMA) and PPP/PPPoE
connnections.

Guest sessions: the User Switcher panel applet provides a new option for
starting a Guest session. This creates a temporary, password-less user
account with restricted privileges - perfect for lending out your laptop for

Encrypted private directories: the installer now offers the option to
configure a secret encrypted folder for each user, to be unlocked and

five minutes, with support for scripting custom virtual images.

Java: a complete free Java™ stack is supported in Ubuntu 8.10, including
OpenJDK and Apache Tomcat 6.0, making Ubuntu a great choice for Java

Known Bugs

There are a few key issues that users will want to take note of before
upgrading to this beta.

* The e1000e device driver (which provides support for Intel GigE ethernet
hardware) is currently disabled due to a serious bug. A fix for this
bug has already been prepared and will be released shortly as an update
to all users of the beta release.

Ieri son tornato da Cesenatico, dove si è tenuto il secondo meeting dei membri dei vari gruppi della comunità italiana di Ubuntu.

Sono rimasto molto contento, perchè oltre a incontrare alcune persone che avevo già conosciuto di persona al primo meeting tenutosi a Siena, ho conosciuto altre persone che a Siena non c’erano.

Ho tolto wifi-radar e ho installato wicd, funziona alla grande
Ecco cosa ho fatto:

• ho installato ndiswrapper, mettendo ovviamente i driver delle scheda wifi di windows XP (di cui sono disponibili nella sezione Download);
• ho installato madwifi-tools
• infine ho installato e configurato wicd

col pacchetto che si trova a questo link come indicato nell’articolo di AleXit .
